We identified 8 MPAs, 2 of which appear to have some type of active management, however we need to investigate this further. Data and information have been collected, compiled and databased from a range of government agencies, universities and NGOs. On March 14-15, the team conducted a meeting in Lombok with government agencies to identify their priorities for MPA and fisheries management in the region.
These processes will be used to prioritise our investment towards building protected areas and co-management approaches to fisheries management for Lombok and Sumbawa. Our next steps are then to hold meetings with communities in the priority areas to discuss management issues, options, and develop workplans that detail our conservation strategies.
